Principal's Welcome

Greetings and thanks for your interest in Jefferson Middle School.  My name is Dave Wallace and I am starting my fourth year here at JMS.  I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with and lead such an outstanding group of educators, families and students.

Jefferson Middle School serves around 400 students in grades 6-8.  This size allows us to get to know each student as an individual yet offer the opportunities similar to our larger counterparts. We utilize an Advisory model and a modified block schedule so as to meet the affective and academic needs of this unique age group. We have a fovcus on literacy that includes a daily block of Reading/Writing, extensive interdisciplinary literacy work between classes, and teachers that work in tandem to achieve the best language arts experience possible.  Similarly, the entire grade level team collaborate and coordinate curriculum to meet specific student needs. All students take Health, Tech/Careers and
Spanish classes each school year.  We also offer an outstanding music program including full Band and Choir team taught experiences.  We offer an RTI/Enrichment model program that helps us to individualized our instruction to suit specific student needs and interests.  Student explore classes including Jazz Band, Civics and Economics through Minecraft, Journalism, Brain Training, Psychology, and Honors Art and Choir classes to name just a few.  Recently JMS earned the highest ranking of any middle school in Jefferson County.

Truly, Jefferson Middle School is a small community, with huge opportunities.

Please feel free to contact our office anytime if you would like to schedule a tour.
