Open Enrollment

The School District of Jefferson participates in the Wisconsin Open Enrollment program.

This program allows parents to apply for their children to attend school districts other than the one in which they reside. For more information please visit the DPI website for resources to help answer any of your questions.

Application Procedures

Regular Application Procedure

Parents must apply during the open enrollment application period beginning in February for the following school year. Parents do not need to reapply for open enrollment if their student is presently attending the school district via open enrollment.

The open enrollment application period for the 2025-26 school year is February 3, 2025 - April 30, 2025 at 4:00 pm.

The preferred method to apply is using DPI’s online application. This form is active only during the application period. You can access the online application via the link on the right-side menu. If you are unable to submit an application online, you may complete a paper application to submit to the non-resident district. This application can be found on the right-side menu while available.

Alternative Application Procedure

If you miss the regular open enrollment application window, you may still apply for open enrollment. The alternative open enrollment period opens on July 1st following the regular application period.

To apply for open enrollment for the current school year, an Alternative Open Enrollment Application must be submitted to the non-resident district. This application can be found on the right-side menu.

Tuition Waiver

Request for Tuition Waiver Due to Move

If a student attending as a resident of the district moves out of the district mid-year (after the 3rd Friday in September), the parent must complete a current year tuition waiver to continue attending for the remainder of the school year. This form can be located on the right-side menu.

To continue attending the non-resident district after the current school year, an open enrollment application must be submitted for the following school year using the above procedures.
