2026 Election Information
The registration period to submit paperwork to run for a seat in the next election is December 1st, 2025, through January 6th, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
The April 7, 2026, spring election will include two board seats on the ballot. A listing of the board seats are as follows:

*Candidate must reside in the area of the seat they are running for.
Candidates will be listed here in last name Alpha order until lots for ballot placement are drawn (1/12/26 if necessary). Since both seats up for election are in the same area, there will be one question on the ballot, and the two candidates with the most votes will win the seats.

Potential candidates can pick up hard-copy candidate packets from the School District office at 206 South Taft Ave. Jefferson, WI 53549 during business hours.

2026 Important Dates
- December 26, 2025, 5:00 p.m.: Deadline for incumbents to file Notification of Non-Candidacy

NOTICE: Incumbents who have filed a notification of noncandidacy (Link will be updated if/when forms are received)

- January 6, 2026, 5:00 p.m.: Deadline for candidates to file Declaration of Candidacy and Campaign Finance Registration Statement forms.
- PLEASE NOTE: The Declaration of Candidacy form needs to be notarized prior to the filing deadline and will not be accepted without notarization.
- February 17, 2026: Spring Primary (if needed)
- April 3, 2026 at Noon: Deadline for Write-in Candidates to register for the Spring Election
- In order to register as an official write-in candidate, you must file a Campaign Registration Statement form with the School District office prior to this deadline.
- April 3 is a District holiday, so offices will be closed. There will be someone to collect paperwork between 10 am and noon. Please email schmittv@sdoj.org with any questions.
- April 7, 2026: Spring Election
- April 13, 2026: Board of Canvassers Meeting (tentatively 4 p.m.)
- April 27, 2026: Board Reorganization Meeting
